Appropriate Assessment

In October 2005, the European Court of Justice (EJC) ruled that in the UK land use plans, as well as projects, are required to be subject to an 'Appropriate Assessment'. The purpose of the Assessment is to assess the implications of a plan or project, either individually or in combination with other plans or projects, on a Natura 2000 site in view of the site's conservation objectives. The Appropriate Assessment (2008) relates to the Mole Valley Core Strategy which was adopted in October 2009.
