Investment in Future Leatherhead Riverside Quarter Development

At a meeting on 26 September 2017, Mole Valley District Council's Executive approved £620,000 to develop an outline planning application for Claire House & James House in Leatherhead.

The proposed development of Clare House & James House (C&J House) will underpin the creation of the riverside quarter - a key scheme within Mole Valley District Council's Transform Leatherhead masterplan.

The proposed riverside quarter development received a high level of support during a public consultation carried out in 2015/2016. As a key Transform Leatherhead gateway, C&J House will become a landmark development in a picturesque riverside setting. Initial development plans for the site include a ground floor restaurant/ café and high quality residential units.

Councillor Simon Edge, Executive Member for Transform Leatherhead, said: "These are exciting times for the residents of Leatherhead and the surrounding villages. The riverside quarter is central to the implementation of the Transform Leatherhead masterplan, and the development of C&J House will be a landmark for both residents and visitors. The final scheme has to be commercially viable, provide real benefit to the community and be sensitive to any planning issues. I have no doubt that we can deliver a quality development that will be a significant addition to the town."
