Housing Team Raises Over £1,000 In Xmas Raffle For Local Charity
Mole Valley District Council's Housing Team raised a tremendous £1,149 in December with its raffle of locally donated prizes for the local Besom, the Mole Valley charity that reaches out to make a difference in the local community by supporting those in need.
The Besom work closely with the Housing Team, their mission is to 'provide a bridge between those who want to give money, time, skills or things, and those who are in need' and is made up of local Christians from local churches.
The charity assists vulnerable and low-income households in housing need by providing essential white goods, quality furniture and other household items. Run by a team of volunteers who collect donated items and deliver without funding. The Besom's motto is 'Sweep away suffering'.
Alison Wilks, Manager of the Housing Team said, "We are delighted to have once again been able to support the Besom with our annual raffle, we recognise and appreciate their hard work in the district to assist households in need and this is our way of giving back to Besom. Local organisations and Mole Valley Distirct Council staff were incredibly generous with prizes and we would like to thank the many businesses that supported us as follows:
Dorking Sports Centre
Eden Brown Synergy
Environmental Support Services
Everyone Active Leisure centres
Noon & Co.
Seraphim Property Services
The Old House, Dorking
The Pheasant, Buckland
The Spotted Dog
Victoria's Little Bra Shop
The money will be utilised for all the good works the Besom carries out throughout the district.
Julia Brand from the Besom said, "Once again Mole Valley's Housing Team have gone to extraordinary lengths to support our work with the donation of these funds and we appreciate how much hard work goes into organising such a big raffle. We work closely with the whole team throughout the year and are thrilled that so much has been raised for Besom locally.
