Leatherhead to provide new home for Surrey Police Headquarters
Surrey Police have purchased the former Electrical Research Association and Cobham Industries site on Cleeve Road Leatherhead where they will create a new HQ and operational hub.
The new site will bring together teams from the current Guildford HQ, Woking Police Station, Reigate Police Station, the Roads Policing Team and Tactical Firearms Unit. The move is part of an estates project designed to deliver long-term savings for the Police and new efficient ways of working.
Councillor Vivienne Michael, Leader of Mole Valley District Council, said "We are delighted to hear that the new Surrey Police HQ and operational hub is to be based in Leatherhead. The new purpose built headquarters will be designed to enable Surrey Police to better meet the challenges of modern policing so this is very good news for Leatherhead, for Mole Valley and for Surrey as a whole."
Councillor Simon Edge, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, added "The planned move by Surrey Police is great news for Leatherhead and complements what we are aiming to achieve with Transform Leatherhead. With a considerable number of staff moving into the new HQ it will help increase footfall in the town and bring investment to the area. The choice of Leatherhead was based on its key central location within the County and good transport links, assets of Leatherhead we are keen to highlight."
