Brand New Health Suite Opens at Dorking Sports Centre
Members and visitors to Dorking Sports Centre can now experience both relaxing and invigorating sensations thanks to a brand new state-of-the-art health suite that includes a sauna, steam room and cold plunge shower.
The introduction of these new facilities was made possible thanks to a £100,000 investment, split between the Centre's owner, Mole Valley District Council, and specialist leisure operators, Places for People Leisure. Saunas are known to aid in the recovery of physical activity, reduce blood pressure, induce sleep and help reduce the risk of Alzheimer's. Steam Rooms are well-renowned to improve circulation, loosen stiff joints, boost the immune system and clears the skin.
Geoff Evans, Dorking Sports Centre's Contract Manager, said: "We are always looking for opportunities to improve our leisure provision and, working in close partnership with Mole Valley District Council, we have been able to achieve this. It's fantastic to see the finished result and see both our members and non-members enjoying the experience."
Councillor David Draper, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: "We were only too pleased to part-fund the new health suite, which helps cement Dorking Sports Centre as the number one health and fitness provider in the local area. The Centre offers a free five day pass to non-members which is easy to apply for and allows the opportunity to try the wide range of impressive facilities on offer and see what all the fuss is about."
The centre's Premium and Swim Members can benefit from the health suite facilities as part of their existing membership. Dorking Sports Centre already boasts a modern gym, teaching and 25 metre main swimming pool, six-court sports hall and spinning studio.
