Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall Car Park Refurbishment

On Monday 2 September, work will begin on refurbishing Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall car park. This is the beginning of a £1 million project to refurbish all of Mole Valley District Council's (MVDC) car parks.

It is estimated that the work will take ten weeks to complete. To minimise the effect on the public while completing the project as quickly as possible, the work will be done in three sections. This means that different parts of the 165-space car park will be closed at different times. All available spaces will be clearly signposted throughout the work.

MVDC recommends that anyone struggling to find a space use Grove Road car park, which is a two-minute drive from Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall car park. The same parking charges apply at both car parks.

Improvements include a complete resurfacing of the car park, improved drainage to prevent flooding, clearer signs, improved lighting to make the car park safer, and work to ensure all the spaces meet modern size standards. Cabling is also being laid in preparation for future plug-in electric vehicle charging points.

Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, Councillor Clayton Wellman, said: "We are excited to begin this important modernisation project. Our aim is to ensure that users of our car parks have the best experience possible, get good value for money, and feel that their car is parked safely."

The car parks being refurbished next year will be Southside in Dorking in the summer and St Martin's Walk in Dorking in the autumn. More details will be published later this year.
