Further Information: This talk will cover the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme. It was begun in the 1880s as an offshoot of the Chemins de Fer du Nord to serve the Picardy coast, being a metre gauge railway operated by la Société Générale des Chemins de Fer Économiques until nationalised in 1937. The preservation society dates from 1970 and now operates steam services on the two branches totalling 25 km, some of which is mixed gauge (metre and standard).
