Housing (including Traveller accommodation)

A series of Housing related evidence base studies were completed to support the Core Strategy (2009).

These include:

  • Affordable Housing Viability Assessment (2008)
  • Housing Needs Study (2007)
  • Strategic Housing Market Assessment, SHMA (2008)
  • Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment, SHLAA (2008)

A new Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) was undertaken in 2015/2016. This will form part of the evidence base that will be used to inform the preparation of the new Mole Valley Local Plan (Future Mole Valley). For updates on Mole Valley's new Local Plan, please see futuremolevalley.org

The SHLAA was partially updated through the Site Assessments for the Housing and Traveller Sites Plan (HTSP) consultation (please note work on the HTSP has now been terminated). This document is available to download for reference. A new SHLAA is under preparation as part of the evidence to inform the Future Mole Valley Local Plan. To inform this process, Calls for Sites were issued in September - November 2016 (focused on brownfield land) and in December 2017 - February 2018 (focused on greenfield sites).

MVDC's current Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA) is dated February 2018. The GTAA is an assessment of the accommodation needs of Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Show people in Mole Valley over the period to 2033. It updates and supersedes MVDC's previous Travellers Accommodation Assessment published in November 2013, taking account of new pitches provided and changes to national guidance and policy since 2013.

All these documents are available (see 'Downloads').
