Register to Vote in 2020 Elections

Residents will be receiving a form from our elections team shortly, asking them to check that the details held are correct. This is to ensure the electoral register is up-to-date and will also help to identify residents who have not registered to vote. Please check the form and follow the instructions.

Police & Crime Commissioner elections will be taking place across the district in May 2020, with District Council Elections held on the same day in some areas too. Residents must be registered to ensure they are eligible to vote in these elections. A household enquiry form will be sent to all properties.

Karen Brimacombe, Electoral Registration Officer, said: "If residents are not registered they will not be able to have their say in May next year. We would urge everyone to check the form we have sent out and follow the instructions. Those residents who have not confirmed their registration by August can expect to receive a reminder from us later that month."

Regardless of whether changes are required to the details held or not, all householders are required to respond either online, by telephone, by SMS, or by returning the form using the pre-paid envelope. Having to send out reminders is at a cost to tax payers. Residents can avoid receiving a reminder in August or a personal visit from a canvasser in October by responding to the form as promptly as possible.
