Ceilidh Dancing and Cabaret in Leatherhead at Arts Alive Launch

This year's Arts Alive Festival will officially kick off in Leatherhead High Street on Saturday 21 September with a free, fun-packed celebratory event inspired by Surrey's folk traditions.

The event will take place from 10am to 12pm, and will feature Surrey's unique Cabareilidh show, a mix of wild ceilidh dancing fused with cabaret, and featuring magic, music, medleys and unicycles.

Entertainment will also include fiddlers, folk music, balloons, face painting, plate spinning and performances by talented local acts.

The event is the perfect way to kick-start the popular annual festival, now in its 23rd year. It features a jam-packed line-up of performances and activities taking place at venues across the district from October to November. There will be live music, poetry recitals and workshops, drama productions, dance performances, stand-up, children's creative workshops, art exhibitions and much more.

Councillor Stephen Cooksey, Leader of Mole Valley District Council, said: "This is our biggest festival to date, with 93 events over six weeks. Arts Alive is a fantastic opportunity to showcase local talent and encourage more people to get involved in the arts. The aim is to make the festival as accessible as possible, so many events are free or affordable to attend."

There will also be a procession to celebrate the end of this year's Heritage Open Days in Mole Valley. Find out more:
