Richard grew up on Epsom Downs and went to school in Leatherhead. He then spent some time in the Royal Navy. He moved back to the Mole Valley in 2009.
He now works in the UK wine trade, buying and selling wine. He has taught a wine course at Adult Educational level. In the beverage industry he has also held Corporate Relations roles including representing the industry in parliament.
Richard became a Governor and then Chair of Governors of a governing body taking a comprehensive secondary school through the process to become an Academy. He is a trustee of a charity offering leadership training to teachers wishing to move into senior teaching roles.
He has two children, both of whom have graduated from university.
He has strong belief in giving back to the community where he lives and that has given him so much. 'We're here to improve our community for future generations'.
Richard enjoys listening to live music and watching all levels of rugby union. He plays badminton, enjoys road and off-road cycling, motorcycling, sailing and windsurfing.
