Parking on Rail Strike Days

Anyone with a Dorking Station car park season ticket will be eligible to park for free in any MVDC car park on days there are no Southern Rail services due to strikes and the Dorking Station car park is at full capacity.

MVDC and Southern Rail have reached this arrangement to support train commuters travelling from Dorking during the industrial dispute.

Southern Rail is responsible for the Dorking station car park. If the station car park reaches capacity on strike days, station staff will display signage directing vehicles to St Martins Walk car park.

Season ticket holders for the station car park can park for free in all MVDC car parks but they are most likely to find a space at St Martins Walk. Station permits must be displayed clearly in the vehicle's dashboard and there is no need to purchase a MVDC pay and display ticket. This free parking offer applies to Dorking station season ticket holders only. All other vehicles that have been directed to St Martins Walk car park will need to purchase and display clearly a pay and display ticket or pay by RingGo.

Southern Rail will be reimbursing MVDC for all season ticket holder vehicles parked in St Martins Walk car park on strike days, at a rate of an all day pay and display ticket, which costs £6.
